Roma – Eternamente Linda

Todos nós aprendemos que Roma é a “Cidade Eterna” e que, na antiguidade, todos os caminhos levavam a ela, não é verdade?
Fundada no ano de 753 A.C., tornou-se um dos maiores impérios da antiguidade, portanto, explicar a importância e beleza da cidade de Roma é tarefa das mais difíceis; quase impossível.
Sem dúvida, a melhor maneira é passar uns dias por lá, para entender e desfrutar de sua história, suas praças, monumentos, a fabulosa culinária, música, moda e tudo mais que há de bom nesta “dolce vita”.
Entre os meses de Junho e Setembro o calor é intenso, o que requer roupas leves e muita água para se manter hidratado.
Roma está entre as 10 cidades mais visitadas do mundo, com mais de 8 milhões de turistas por ano, sendo Agosto o mês de maior fluxo, assim como no resto da Itália.
Em 2012, o cineasta norte-americano Woody Allen, apaixonado por Roma, dedicou um filme à cidade chamado “Para Roma com Amor” (To Rome with Love), no qual entrelaça 4 diferentes histórias sem qualquer conexão entre elas.
No elenco estão Penélope Cruz, Alec Baldwin, Roberto Benigni (A Vida É Bela) e o próprio Woody Allen, entre outros. Muito interessante!!!
Vamos voltar ao nosso tema, que são as belas atrações que Roma nos oferece.
O frenético trânsito e as constantes Vespas passando pelas ruas e avenidas, já indicam o ritmo que nos espera em Roma.

Mas com tantas atrações, qual a melhor forma de se movimentar pela cidade??
Primeiramente, é importante saber que a estação ferroviária Termini é como a própria Roma antiga, pois tudo acontece em seu entorno.
Quer exemplos?
- Se você estiver chegando a Roma pelo aeroporto internacional de Fiumicino, provavelmente tomará um trem e descerá em Termini.
- As linhas de metrô (Metropolitana) A, B e B1, que atendem boa parte dos pontos turísticos, se cruzam em Termini. O preço varia de € 1,5, para 100 minutos, a €24,0 por 7 dias.

- O Veículo Leve sobre Trilho, um tipo atual de bonde, atende as proximidades da Estação.

- Várias linhas de ônibus também passam por Termini.
Portanto, uma boa ideia é reservar um hotel que seja próximo dali, de modo a ter mais de uma opção de transporte, de acordo com sua conveniência.

– Fontana di Trevi
Localizada na Piazza di Trevi, é considerada a mais bela fonte do mundo.
O projeto foi de Nicola Salvi e sua construção, em estilo barroco, iniciou-se em 1732, levando 30 anos para ser concluida.
É um passeio maravilhoso e recomendo tanto durante o dia como de noite, para aqueles com pouco tempo pela cidade. Portanto não deixe de ir de forma alguma. Seria imperdoável….
Nos anos 60, o cineasta Fellini fez questão de incluí-la no clássico filme “Dolce Vita”, para encanto da plateia.

Após longa reforma, a Fontana di Trevi foi reinaugurada em 3 de Novembro de 2015, portanto há menos de duas semanas.
No centro, o personagem mítico principal é Netuno, Deus dos Mares e Oceanos.
Fique de costas para a fonte, jogue uma moeda com a mão direita, por cima do ombro esquerdo e você certamente voltará a Roma. Simples, não?
No entorno da Fontana di Trevi, ótimos restaurantes, cafés e sorveterias fazem a alegria dos turistas.

Uma das mais lindas praças de Roma, a Piazza di Spagna apresenta a famosa Fontana della Barcaccia, em estilo barroco.
Diante da praça, fica a suntuosa escadaria com terraços e 135 degraus, que levam à igreja Trinità dei Monti. 
Bem de frente para a fonte della Barcaccia, do lado oposto à escadaria, começa a Via dei Condotti (ou simplesmente Via Condotti), conhecida mundialmente por suas luxuosas lojas de grife e joalherias.
O movimento de turistas é impressionante!!!
Vale a pena passear pela rua e seu entorno, afinal olhar é totalmente de graça.

– Piazza del Popolo
Estando na Piazza di Spagna, posicionado com a escadaria à direita e a Via dei Condotti à esquerda, caminhe 800m e chegará à imensa Piazza del Popolo, com seu obelisco central e fontes e belíssimas estátuas.
Logo, você identificará a igreja Santa Maria del Popolo, construída no século XI, no local onde morreu e foi enterrado o Imperador Nero.
Incrível, não é mesmo??!!!!!!
É provável que você encontre artistas de rua por ali, assim como tive oportunidade de ouvir um tenor cantando trechos de óperas e canções italianas, no melhor estilo Luciano Pavarotti.

We all grew up hearing that Rome is the Eternal City and by antiquity time all the roads led to it, right?
Founded in the year 753 B C, Rome became one of the biggest empires of ancient times, therefore to explain the importance and beauty of Rome is not easy indeed; almost impossible.
Without any doubt the best way to understand it, is you spending a few days there enjoying its history, squares, monuments, the fabulous food, music, fashion and every good things in our “dolce vita” (sweet life).
Between June and September the heat is quite intense, requiring light clothes, being sure to drink a lot of water to become hydrated.
Rome is among the 10 top visited cities in the world, with more than 8 million tourists a year, being August the month of greatest flow, as well as in the rest of Italy.
In 2012, the American filmmaker Woody Allen, in love with Rome, devoted a film to the city titled “To Rome with Love”, in which interweaves 4 different stories with no connection among them at all.
In the cast there are artists such as Penelope Cruz, Alec Baldwin, Roberto Benigni (Life is Beautiful) and Woody Allen himself, among others. Very interesting!!!
Let’s go back to our theme, speaking about the beautiful attractions available at Rome.
The frenetic traffic and the Vespas (scooters) drifting through the streets and avenues, soon indicate the rhythm that awaits us in Rome.
Get ready to walk enough cause there’s much to see in the Eternal City!

With so many attractions, what’s the best way to move around the city?
First of all, it is important to keep in mind that Termini train station is like the ancient Rome, hence everything happens in its surroundings.
Want examples?
- If you are coming to Rome though Fiumicino International Airport, you will probably take a train and will descend in Termini.
- The subway (Metropolitana) lines A, B and B1, serving most points of interest, intersect at Termini. The price ranges from € 1.5 for 100 minutes, to € 24.0 for a 7-day period.
- The Light Rail Vehicle, a current type of streetcar, operates close to the station.
- Various bus lines also pass through Termini.
Therefore, a good idea is to book a hotel close by Termini, so that you’ll have more transport options, in line with your convenience.
OK, now you’ve got an idea of how to get out around the town, haven’t you?
Then I can introduce you, in this and the next few posts, the Roman most touristic points:
- Fontana di Trevi
Located in the Piazza di Trevi is considered the most beautiful fountain in the world. The monument has been designed by Nicola Salvi in Baroque style.
Its construction started in 1732, taking 30 years to be completed.
It’s a wonderful ride, recommend during the day or night, for those with little time for the city. So, be sure to go in any way, otherwise it will be inexcusable….
In the years 60, the filmmaker Fellini made a point of including Fontana di Trevi in the classic film “Dolce Vita” for the audience’s delight.
After a long restoration process, Fontana di Trevi was inaugurated in November 3rd, 2015, therefore few weeks ago.
In its centre you will find the mythical character Neptuno, God of the Seas and Oceans.
Keep your back to the fountain then toss a coin with your right hand over the left shoulder and you will come back to Rome for sure. Simple, isn’t it?
Around Fontana di Trevi a great concentration of restaurants, cafes and ice-cream shops make tourists’ joy.

One of the most beautiful squares in Rome, Piazza di Spagna showcases the famous Fontana della Barcaccia, in Baroque style.
On the square, there’s a sumptuous staircase with terraces and 135 steps leading to Trinità dei Monti church. The amount of tourists is awesome!!!
Right in front of the source della Barcaccia, opposite to the staircase, begins the street Via dei Condotti, worldwide known for its luxury shops and jewelry stores. It’s worth walking down exploring the street and its surroundings, after all looking is completely for free.

- Piazza del Popolo
Standing in the Piazza di Spagna, positioned with the staircase on the right and Via dei Condotti on the left, walk 8 to 10 minutes and reach the vast Piazza del Popolo, with its central obelisk, fountains and beautiful statues.
Soon you will identify the Church Santa Maria del Popolo, built in the 11th century, in the place where Emperor Nero has died and buried.
Amazing, isn’t it?!
You’re likely to find street performers as I had opportunity to hear a tenor singing opera arias and beautiful Italian songs, resembling Luciano Pavarotti.
